Maternal and child health community, Solution Exchange
Maternal and child health community, Solution Exchange, Udaipur , Rajasthan.
17-18th March, 2008.
I recently had the opportunity to attend the 3rd Annual forum meeting of MCH community of Solution exchange courtesy Prof. CS Pandav. I would like to share my experience with you.
Solution exchange is a knowledge sharing initiative of UN And WHO, to help improve development effectiveness in support of the objectives of India ’s 10th 5 yr plan and The MDG’s. The Solution exchange currently has eleven communities with two more in pipeline. The primary stress of these communities is on problem solving by sharing of knowledge and experience.
The Maternal and child health community is one of these communities and currently has over 2000 members. It is a moderated email group with members posing query (problem/question) via email and which is in turn responded to by other members. After receipt of responses within the time specified in the query a consolidated reply is prepared by and shared with other members. In addition consolidated reply consists of relevant resources in form of related documents, articles, websites, contacts and organizations recommended with regard to that particular query. Besides query, e-discussion, issue paper and face to face interactions are other mode of sharing information deployed by solution exchange. These references and sources are treasure-troves of information for post-graduate students.
This forum has lot of potential and relevance for students of public health in particularly those interested in maternal and child health. I would highly recommend that you join it at the earliest. Check out the link: www.solutionexchange-un.net.in We should subscribe to such forums in numbers so that we can normalize the skewed age distribution of these forums.
P.S. MCH community is a moderated group; to facilitate approval of your membership you can give my name as reference.
