    Dear Friends,
     
    As you all know that World Health Day theme for the current year is ‘Small bite Big threat' and the topic for 2014 is vector-borne diseases.
     
    More than half the world’s population is at risk from diseases such as malaria, dengue, leishmaniasis, Lyme disease, schistosomiasis, and yellow fever, carried by mosquitoes, flies, ticks, water snails and other vectors. Every year, more than 1 billion people are infected and more than 1 million die from vector-borne diseases. On this World Health Day – 7 April – WHO is highlighting the serious and increasing threat of vector-borne diseases, with the slogan “Small bite, big threat”.
     
    Keeping this in mind the Department of Community Medicine, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University Medical College, Pune is organizing a CME on ‘Vector-borne diseases’ on 3rd August 2014 at Auditorium, BVDU Medical College, Dhankawadi, Pune 43. Various experts in the field of entomology, Vector borne diseases are delivering sessions in this CME.
