      This is from the HDSA Orange County Chapter website www.hdsaoc.org/  for anyone living in the area.  If for nothing else, go to meet the beautiful, down-to-earth wonderful presenter, Dr. Nancy Wexler, if you haven't met her before! Dr. Wexler, who helped find the gene for HD,  is the Higgins Professor of Neuropsychology in the Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry of the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University, as well as the President of the Hereditary Disease Foundation http://www.hdfoundation.org.       World-renowned scientist, Dr. Nancy Wexler, will describe the 10-year effort that culminated in the discovery of the gene, and the impact of this discovery on the understanding of Huntington's disease and potential treatments. She will also discuss the importance of this research for the understanding of other neurodegenerative and inherited diseases.
