The 50 Hz is mixed with the 1,575.42 MHz carrier...

What this means is... If you could hear it the frequency is actually:

One Billion, Five Hundred and Seventy Five Million, Four Hundred Twenty
Thousand and Fifty Hertz. Well above the range of human heairng and not to
be confused with the audio range that the ear can hear, LFN, brain waves or
anything else... It is just a low frequency data rate imposed on an ultra
high frequency radio carrier no different than other frequencies imposed on
      other cariers.

Research along these lines: RF Mixers, RF Carriers, Bandwidth, RF\AF
Mixing, Local Oscillator, Intermediate Frequency, Data Multiplexing and Data
Rate. Not related to the hum, not even remotely, but directly related to
      the GPS 50 Hz data.
