      Candidates Unite In Opposition
      To Ballot Challenges

Four Democrats running for the 26th District City Council seat in Western Queens – Kwame Smalls, David Rosasco, Jimmy Van Bramer and Brent O'Leary – will hold a news conference on Monday, Aug. 3, at 11 a.m. to protest challenges filed against two of the candidates' Democratic Primary petitions and to support democracy, ballot access and voter choice.

Deirdre Feerick has filed specific objections (through Ms. Feerick's Co-District Leader, John Smyth) against Kwame Smalls and David Rosasco in an attempt to remove them from the Democratic Primary ballot. Kwame Smalls is the only African-American candidate in the race, while David Rosasco is the only Conservative Democrat in the race. Approximately 3,500 individuals signed petitions for these two candidates.

The press conference will take place at:

      11:00 AM
      Monday, August 3
At the corner of 36th Avenue and 12th Street
Ravenswood Houses, Long Island City, Queens
