      Houston Renewable Energy Meeting

      January 27, 2008  Park Place Library

       

      The meeting was called to order by Mike Ewert, President, at 2:00 pm and he extended a cordial welcome.  Mike presented the latest changes and updates to the HREG website which includes events and how to “Go Solar”.

       

      Special guest, Chief Officer for Sustainable Growth in the Mayor’s office for the City of Houston , Dr. Chris Eugster, presented “Leading the way to Renewable Energy Adoption in Houston .”   Thirty-two attendees listened as he talked about the City of Houston ’s plan for increasing renewable energy.

      A specific concern of the group was the restrictions imposed by the neighborhood homeowners associations regarding installation of solar panels, etc. and what the city can do to alleviate some of these restrictions.

       

      A Texas Solar Energy Society Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Joyce Lattimore for outstanding performance and lasting contributions to the Houston Renewable Energy Group (HREG) and Solar Energy Development in Texas .  Also she was commended for her service in the Renewable Energy program at Texas Southern University.

       

      By unanimous vote, the current officers will retain their positions: Mike Ewert, President; Chris Boyer , Vice President – Technical; Ed Wanat, Vice President – Outreach; Joyce Lattimore, Secretary/Treasurer; and John Gardner, HREG Board Representative - Texas Solar Energy Society.
