In perusing the latest catalog of Leisure Learning Classes, I came
across one that might be of interest to folks:
      Intro to Alternative Energy.

The synopsis reads: Have you ever dreamed of having freedom and security
to be able to generate your own power? Learn how! Turn sunlight, wind
or water into electricity. Whether you aspire to complete energy
independence or just want to reduce your electric bills, plan to
      attend.

Class size: minimum 3 - maximum 20 + 3 slots for senior citizens or
physically challenged students who may receive a 50% discount.

Cost: $30 + ($10 for materials paid to instructor) Note that there is
an additional registration fee of $7 per person ($3.50 for seniors or
physically challenged) that goes to Leisure Learning Unlimited. If you
want to take more classes from LLU, it may be worth paying the $13
($6.50 for seniors and physically challenged) annual registration fee.

Instructor: Joe Bredehoeft lives completely and comfortable,
unconnected to the power grid in the Texas Hill Country. He has
designed and installed both photovoltaic and hydroelectric power
      systems.

      When: Saturday Feb. 24, 1-4 p.m.

Where: The general area is Greenway Plaza: Richmond/Kirby. The exact
location and directions are mailed to you when you register. If you
register at the last minute, you'll be given this information by phone

      Course number:1085A

      To Register:
By phone with credit card: 713-529-4414
By mail or fax: use printable registration from http://www.llu.com
Mail with check or money order: to Leisure Learning Unlimited, Inc.
      P.O. Box 22675
      Houston, TX 77227-2675
      Fax using credit cards: 713-529-4141

Note: they have a policy for refunds, transfers, reinstatment fees, and
such that is too long to go into here.

Whether one of our number attends the class or someone contacts the
instructor, the fact that HREG exists should somehow be made known to
those who attend the class who haven't yet heard about us.
