Developing alternative sources of energy efficiently and profitably is a challenge for both the energy industry and for public policy. These advancements require a thorough understanding of the practical hurdles facing the industry.
Ted Turner and Timothy Wirth are coming to Houston to engage its energy leaders and citizens in a discussion on the opportunities in clean energy technologies. In particular, they will focus on the ways in which public policy can assist profitable development of affordable clean energy technologies.
Turner, founder of CNN, is an entrepreneur, environmentalist, and philanthropist. To support the activities of the United Nations, he created the United Nations Foundation through his billion-dollar gift. Wirth, a former Senator from Colorado, has been president of the UN Foundation since its inception.
The World Affairs Council is recognized as one of Houston's most prestigious citizen forums. Its more than 5,000 members are highly educated individuals who care about international events. From this vision, the Council's mission flows: to promote America 's understanding of the world--the people, politics, economics, and relationships--and to improve the ability of our citizens to participate in the world community
