Renewables 2005 Conference
Matthew R. Simmons, author of the Twilight in the Desert: The Coming Saudi Oil Shock and the World Economy, will be the featured speaker for the Keynote Luncheon at Texas Renewables 05. The luncheon will be held on Monday, November 14, the first day of the two-day 21st Annual Meeting of the Texas Renewable Energy Industries Association being held at the Hilton University of Houston. Registration is open to anyone with an interest in the burgeoning renewable energy industries. The cut-off date for taking advantage of the lower early registration fee has been extended through November 9.
The late Richard E. Smalley, Nobel Laureate, said the following about Twilight in the Desert. This book is likely to be the most important ever written about oil. The veil of secrecy that has surrounded the worlds oil resources must be lifted so the world can plan its future. This magnificently researched book of Matt Simmons may very well have the power to make that happen.
With the concept of peak oil gaining traction and decision makers anxiously casting about for means to deal with the consequences, renewable energy proponents would do well to gain as clear an understanding of the realities of todays energy markets as they can. Mr. Simmons speech should serve as a crash course in that effort, presenting a clear, if stark, vision of the context within which the renewable energy industry must operate.
Dont miss the Texas Renewables 05 conference. Registration information including detailed agenda with latest speaker lineup is attached and available as well on the TREIA web site at www.treia.org.
