The State Energy Conservation Office (SECO) has issued a request for
information from Texas independent school districts to participate in
the second phase of their Texas Solar For Schools Program. Selected
schools will receive a 1 kW grid-tied solar electric system, software to
monitor the performance of the system, educational materials and
classroom training. Schools will be required to identify a partner to
provide a cost-share amount (24% of the total project cost or
approximately $2,400 as noted in the application) for this project.
This is a great opportunity for businesses/organizations/institutions to
partner with local schools to bring solar energy into the classroom.
Cost-share can be in the form of selected equipment, labor or cash. The
official notice regarding the program and the application form are
      available at their website:

      http://www.seco.cpa.state.tx.us/seco_rfi.htm

Please note that applications are due May 19, 2003. SECO will be
sending this announcement to ISD's electronically. We also plan to send
ISD's a list of potential partners (utilities, businesses, etc.) who
they can contact. Feel free to forward this announcement to anyone you
      think may be interested. Thanks.
