      NAA Test Center Welcomes New

      Commercial Photobioreactor Manufacturers

The National Algae Association has received and continues to receive donated testing equipment and new materials at its new Test Center. Many new algae equipment providers are interested in the algae production industry and the opportunity to test their equipment in a commercial algae testing facility.  We are pleased to announce new commercial photobioreactors, harvesters, and extraction systems are available for testing. NAA's collaborative membership of algaepreneurs, growers, researchers. engineers, commercial equipment manufacturers, and materials providers are all working together in a voluntary collaborative environment to educate one other, sharing information, identifying issues and coming up with solutions.  Finally,  university algae researchers have the opportunity to collaborate with the commercial algae production industry.

Commercial algae production data has been scarce and/or non-existent. Data is key to all NAA members. The NAA Testing Center, the first of its kind, is a test-bed for taking algae technologies and equipment out of the lab into a commercial environment.  Verification of data and scalability are important to investors.  Algae technologies have no value sitting on shelves unless they can be confimed and used in commercial algae production. The Testing Center's focus is to help fast-track the algae production industry.

NAA realized years ago that the engineers who designed commercial photobioreactors  were not communicating with the engineers who designed harvesting equipment who were not communicating with the engineers who designed extraction equipment. Potential investors and lenders are tired of hearing about projections - they want to see actual data and turn-key algae production systems all in one place.  NAA has taken on the task of identifying and resolving scale-up issues, economies of scale and lowering CAPEX for its members.
