      Hardrockers,

Below is the Silverton snow report as of the end of January. After a very
white December, Silverton had only one significant snow storm in January.
Leaning forward just a smidgen, I've heard that February started out with a
huge whiteout and zero-visibility blizzard but that seems to only be related
to the lottery. Course conditions in July will almost certainly not be
      affected.

Careful readers will note a correction to the January value. My UNofficial
source, the Silverton Standard, corrected it's value. What that really
means is the values below are somewhat better than a SWAG so please don't
base your entire religious belief system on them (or on your wait list
number, either). SNOTEL gages are certainly much more accurate in terms of
snow water content. You can see a Mineral Creek SNOTEL station graphic at:
      http://tinyurl.com/62a4z <http://tinyurl.com/62a4zo> A lot more SNOTEL data
      can be found at: http://www.wrcc.dri.edu/snotel/snoareas.html

The climate models continue to forecast warmer than average temperatures and
average to dryer than average precipitation for the San Juan Mountains this
      spring.
