Deer, Elk, and Wildflowers Seen June 10, 2005
- It rained most of the day here on the Western Slope. Some of the
northen slopes got a dusting of new snow, but predominately it rained.
Some of the high basins are still pretty solidly covered with snow, but
mostly the bare ground spots are growing bigger every day. The rain
actually increases the snow melt even tho the day was cold and gray.
The snow markers on Red Mountain are both completely free of snow. Deer
and Elk both are migrating up where the grass is fresh and clean. They
look strong and alert. Even a few wild flowers are coming forth. The
Alpin Glow was awesome this evening as I came back in to the mountains.
