Political Party Resolutions Action Alert
Missouri Files Medical Marijuana Bill
New Scientific Study: Marijuana and The HeartIts that time of year when political parties come together and decide what issues are important to them and who theyre going to elect to stand behind those issues. With your help we can pass medical marijuana resolutions through both the major parties, which will help convince the legislators to pass a genuine medical marijuana bill for Texas in 2007.In 2004 the Democrats passed a medical marijuana resolution at the state convention, but this year we have one that is slightly different. In order for the resolutions to make it all the way to the state convention its important that all the resolutions are identical, so please download either the Democratic or Republican resolution at the following links respectively: http://www.texansformedicalmarijuana.org/docs/democraticpartyresolution.pdf, and http://www.texansformedicalmarijuana.org/docs/republicanpartyresolution.pdfThen take it to your party precinct convention, which is held at your polling place after the primary vote on March 7th at 7 pm. and ask for its approval among the party participants. If it passes that convention, it will be headed towards the senatorial district convention. Please let us know if you successfully pass one at the precinct level and well help guide you from there.
(Rep. Tom Villa D-MO)Representative Tom Villa is sponsoring a bill that would allow doctors to prescribe marijuana as a medicine to patients with certain serious illnesses. The bill would also allow patients, with the help of their doctors, to receive State Health Department medical I.D. cards. For more information on the Missouri MMJ bill, check out http://columbiamissourian.com/news/story.php?ID=18537A study published in the February issue of the Journal of Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry shows that THC (one of the major active components of marijuana) has a beneficial effect on the cardiovascular system during stress conditions. The findings suggest that THC protects cardiac cells against hypoxia (a decrease in the level of oxygen in the blood). For more information on the study the full text of the article can be found at http://www.springerlink.com/(dmwxjaimzenuoa3t4fah0w45)/app/home/contribution.asp?referrer=parent&backto=searcharticlesresults,1,1; Search for the article using the following key words hypoxia marijuana.
