  • Re: Volume Setting

This is why I love classical concerts. There's no soundboard.

I think there is benefit to be had from the experience of others. At least if a person is open minded.

I like classical music a lot.  Actually, this entire discussion is moot.  People are instinctively going to listen at the volume level that provides them

Group Description

The Houston Audio Society is a group of audio and music enthusiasts from the Houston metropolitan area. We hold monthly meetings to share ideas, listen to records and CD's, hear different types of audio equipment, host guest speakers, attend audio related events and seminars, and visit audio retail shops.

We are interested in the full range of audio equipment from entry level through the highest quality components. The shared interest that holds us together is our love of music and the equipment that reproduces it accurately and with feeling. To join the Houston Audio Society just come to one of our regular meetings. No reservations are expected - just come and join us.

For Sale Ads: The messages section of this site is intended for the discussion of audio topics and not for advertising and marketing. For Sale ads should be placed in the "For Sale or Trade" database as described in message #7155 dated July 7, 2012. Ads that are out of compliance with these instructions will be cheerfully deleted by the moderators.

Next meeting: June 27th. Time is from 2-4 PM Location: University Blvd Branch of Fort Bend County Library in Sugar Land just south of Hwy 59 and University Blvd in the U of H campus rear left building in parking lot. Topic will be listening to music on cds (bring cd's to play) and possibly another topic to be announced. We will also have an audio swap meet if you would like to bring items for sale, clearly marked with your name and price and people can browse and purchase from one another if desired. This has been moderately successful in the past and it's been a long time so we can try it again. All deals are between buyer and seller.
