Group Description

Preserving food on the homestead is a basic and fundamental part of who we are and what we do. This group is intended to serve one another by sharing our knowledge and recipes. There is nothing more rewarding than putting up the foods we have grown and preserving them for use through the next year.

This group was started to promote sustainable living by growing and preserving your own by canning, dehydrating, or freezing. New members posts will be moderated (until we get to know you) to prevent spam.

We look forward to having new and veteran canners join and share with each other.

Off topic posts are OK as long as it is of good taste and doesn't get to carried away.

Many people enjoy growing their own fruits and vegetables, others do it out of necessity. Home food preservation remains an important and popular cultural activity. It is critical that those who practice preserving and processing foods at home have access to the most reliable information available concerning food safety and food quality. This group contains links and discussions on food preservation.
