- Salut Janet,I write to inform you and the forum that the Governor General of Canada was born in Haiti.Governor General means that she represents the Queen, the Head of State in Canada. Can we/should we come up with an idea/action that might interest her to champion along with us?Her name is Michael Jean and Google's page of her and of the earth quake is:http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=michael+jean+haiti+earthquake&meta=&rlz=1R2GGHP_enCA363&aq=4&oq=michael+jeanI can only imagine the kind of positive energy and actions that could come out of such an alliance between her and those at the top such as the UN Secretary General, Bill Clinton and the likes......getting grounded with people like us, whom I have come to know as my cyber family, the Minciu Sodas people...If the door of opportunity were to open to meet with Michael Jean, I would ask her to consider the idea which I cultivated online with the help of Andrius's service. Here is the kind of service that I would aim for, in meeting with her as the representant of my Queen.I call it: "The Canadian Heart Forces"::Benoit CoutureStay-at-home-dad-citizen-voter-taxpayerEdmonton, Canada

Received: Wednesday, February 10, 2010, 11:58 AMDear Dennis, Andrius, and All,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Dennis!
Ushahidi has approached me about doing outreach for them both in Kenya and globally. They are esp interested in women's groups, but hope their work will be utilized generally by any groups. They have now had some important experience in Haiti, utilizing the platform to address a natural disaster.
After the Haiti situation shifts from urgent crisis mode, which it is slowly starting to do now, I would like to explore this opportunity at HH and perhaps other forums, enlisting the women's groups and individual women we have among us, and also individuals (and men) like yourself and Collins Oduor, Ken Chelimo and Ken Owino, and anyone else involved in the Pyramid of Peace work.
I'm not sure how this would apply to the current situation: in what ways would you see the Pyramid of Peace project, Ushahidi, and other crisis responses applying to Somalia?
It would be good to explore how to develop a networking and response system that can be applied to a variety of situations. The bottom line would be further development of a "phone-tree" system, I think, and perhaps development of a combined local-international team effort to address whatever issues are present.
There is a lot that can be done without money, though funds did enhance the work we did with POP. It appears that none of us who had funds then to invest are in that position now. So what can we do without funds...can we brainstorm about that?
We look forward to hearing more feedback on the subject--with specifics for the Somalia situation--and hopefully we can find ways to be helpful!
With blessings and best wishes, Janet
