Thanks for all the good suggestions, I will be adding copper, fluxing, and quenching. I forgot about quenching, that seemed to help a little before. Some people talk about adding degas tablets. I will be using the CNC to cut my wood pattern for a Steady rest to use with my Mini Lathe. I'll take pics when I'm done. And see if i can figure out how to post them :)
Hello all, I have been casting bar stock from 6061 aluminum cutoff pieces I have. When I machine the bar stock on the lathe, it never gets the nice shiny finish like real bar stock does. It is rather porous. Is there something I can do to get it to be more uniform and give a better finish when machined? Maybe degass or something? Thanks in advance!
