Paramount Center for the Arts Begins Renovations
      January 9, 2004
PEEKSKILL, NY — The Paramount Center for the Arts will be closed from
      December 15th, 2003 through February 15th, 2004, for major
renovations of the historic landmark theater.

The Paramount Center will be renovating the interior of the theater
through a grant from the Empire State Development Fund. The project
will involve repairing and repainting the theater walls and ceiling.
Once completed, the ceiling will be a unique treasure, as the
intricate French renaissance patterns will be restored to their
      original glory.

The extensive work is being completed by Evergreene Painting Studios,
whose impressive resume includes the restoration and preservation of
over 100 historic theaters and capitol buildings in over 26 states.

The Paramount was built in 1930 by the famed architectural firm of
Rapp & Rapp. Brothers C.W and George Rapp built some of the most
complex and exquisite theaters across the country, and were also
responsible for the Times Square Paramount, the Loew's Kings in
Brooklyn, and the Loew's Jersey, which still stands today.
