Let's bring back showmanship!
I almost cried when I found this wonderful site, the Widescreen Museum. This
is a dream come true for fans of the REAL way to present movies! -- http://
I was particularly taken with the following two sections: Roadshow! http://
AND "How to Properly Run a Roadshow Presentation" http://
It's time that we who love the care and detail that used to be put into a
major motion picture presentation make our feelings known to theater
owners around the country. Let them know we care about HOW films are
presented, especially major releases! Let them know that we, the audience,
NOTICE excellence in theater construction, design, and especially in film
presentation, just as much as we notice flaws and faults in those same
things. Let them know we WANT to support their businesses! Let them know
we want to see films in the 70mm widescreen film format (still the best way to
see a film) as well as the latest digital stereo process! (For fans of 70mm,
check out this incredible information resource -- "...in 70mm" -- the 70mm
Newsletter! http://hjem.get2net.dk/in70mm/magazine/magazine_index.htm )
Share the information you find here with your local movie theater owners and
management staff. Let them know that you only want to help make their
businesses better because you love movies and you want something
different, special, BETTER than what the other theater owners offer.
If you've ever actually seen a roadshow presentation (I did, back in 1988 with
the restored print of "Lawrence of Arabia"), let me tell you, it's an incredibly
memorable experience that is not to be missed! Such presentations should
become standard yet again in the 21st Century!
