      APPLICATIONS ONLINE NOW
      The Volunteer Photographer Program is a community outreach project of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation Archive. It's purpose is to create documentation of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell for the Archive's collection.
      See below for details on how to apply.
      We're looking for images that go beyond the stages and music to capture the “internal culture” of Jazz Fest - the food, art, culture and people who make the festival so unique.
      There are three categories: Student, Amateur and Professional.
      Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
      They must be able to manage and edit hundreds or even thousands of digital images.
      And they must understand that the work of photographing Jazz Fest is physically demanding. Photographers often walk many miles a day around the Fair Grounds Race Course and are responsible for their own photography gear. Weather conditions vary - from very sunny and hot with lots of dust to rain with lots of mud.
      Volunteer photographers selected for the program are responsible for providing the Archive with CDs of the images taken at the festival along with a complete index of images on the disc.
      The images are owned by the photographer but may be used to promote the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation and for other non-commercial and educational purposes. All rights, responsibilities and obligations on the part of the Foundation and the photographers are outlined in a separate Terms of Agreement for those invited to participate.
      Participants are selected by a four-person jury, consisting of an Archive Committee member and three photographers/curators, plus two non-voting members (the Archivist and a Jazz Fest representative). Selections are based on: artistic merit (60%);
      experience photographing live cultural events and/or professional reliability (40%)
      HOW TO APPLY:
      Go to www.callforentry.org and set up a user profile. Then look in the "Cafe Listings" for “New Orleans Jazz Fest Volunteer Photographers.”
      Applications will be accepted from November 30 through  December 31, 2012.
      Only 150 applications will be accepted.
