      That area of North Robertson with the intersecting blocks of Kerlerec and Columbus have been brought to NOPD's attention for many years because of the rampant drug dealing and addicts that plague that area.  It also doesn't help that there are  numerous blighted properties and lots that are used as headquarters for illegal activity.  It is so unfortunate that someone has now lost their life.

      Woman Found Stabbed to Death in Treme


      (July 20, 2014) – Homicide Detectives are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 58-year old woman. The discovery was made shortly after 6am in the 1400 block of North Robertson Street.  The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members.

      Officers were called out to investigate a call of a “woman down” in a vacant lot. Officers arrived and found the unresponsive victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to the body. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.


      Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive. 


      Homicide Detective Travis Ward is in charge of the investigation.

       Any person who, after the commission of a felony, shall harbor, conceal, or aid the offender, knowing or having reasonable ground to believe that he has committed the felony, and with the intent that he may avoid or escape from arrest, trial, conviction, or punishment shall be charged with R.S. 14:25; Relative to Accessories After the Fact.

      An accessory after the fact may be tried and punished, notwithstanding the fact that the principal felon may not have been arrested, tried, convicted, or amenable to justice.

      Whoever becomes an accessory after the fact shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars, or imprisoned, with or without hard labor, for not more than five years, or both; provided that in no case shall his punishment be greater than one-half of the maximum provided by law for a principal offender.
