This happened last week but didn't seem to get much attention.  Officers are seeking individual in attached picture.

New Orleans Police say that a man known as ‘Freeze' may have additional information regarding the shooting of a 15-year-old cheerleader and a 19-year-old cheer coach in Tremé.

Officers say that someone opened fire on Markel Kemper, 15, and Wade Smith, 19, while they sat in their car in the 1100 block of Tremé Street.

Police say Kemper, a cheerleader at Ponchatoula High School, and Smith, a cheer coach with Louisiana Cheer Force New Orleans, were leaving the French Quarter and had just gotten into their vehicle when someone opened fire.

Police say Kemper was shot in the stomach and Smith was shot in the shoulder.

Officers believe that ‘Freeze' may know more about the incident. Authorities describe ‘Freeze' as an African-American male with hair braided to the nape of his neck. He was last seen wearing a horizontal striped polo shirt, blue trousers and a backwards skull cap, police say.

Officers say he is known to frequent the French Quarter, particularly Bourbon and Saint Ann Streets. Police obtained photos of 'Freeze' through video surveillance.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact First District Detectives at 658-6010 or Crime Stoppers at 822-1111.
