I suppose you could argue that
      Charles Taylor's 1975 'Hegel' provides a clear
      understanding from which a more
sublime analysis could be built on.
      So what does a detailed
analysis of Hegel's logic mean to you?

I say this because there are many interpretations
of Hegel's Logic and I have not read them all.
Some, as already mentioned can be found in the
bibliography of The Encyclopaedia Logic. Trans.
      by Gereats, Suchting and Harris.
I.e., Terry Pinkard, Errol E. Harris and
Clark Butler's (not mentioned) or even better
Di Giovanni, G. 'Essays on Hegel's Logic' etc.
Somewhere out there, there is probably someone
who has got it more than right; understands
the core concepts of his Speculative Logic,
but this, I believe requires some extrapolation
      as the formal exposition
(as in being a working calculus)
of Hegel's method (see quote below) was not
even provided in detail by Hegel himself,
or if it was, was lost or destroyed.

      I have just bought Daniel Berthold-Bond, 1993.
      Hegel's Grand Synthesis:
A Study of Being, Thought, and History
      See: http://www.braungardt.com/Philosophy/Dialectic/nature_of_dialectic.htm
but not yet received it in the post.

On the same web page quoted from his book:
"Dialectic is both a method of demonstration and
      an ontological principle for Hegel."

To expand this, I would add, the dialectic
is the function of reason; it constitutes
the identity and difference of the values, language
      and measures belonging to an understanding;
to give you a handle on how difficult
      such a study is.

      Dear List

There are a good many very excellent commentaries to the Phenomenology of Spirit. However, I need an equally good guide to help me through the logic. Can anybody offer any suggestions? The more detailed the better - something like the equivalent to Harris's guide to the Phenomenology would be great.

      many thanks for any suggestions

      Best

      Phil
