- Oct 30 7:37 AMDear Eric,When I said Marx wouldn't perhaps have considered himself a philosopher, I was thinking of his Eleventh Thesis on Feuerbach which goes 'Philosophers have only interpreted the world in various ways; the point is to change it".I presumed that if he characterized philosophers in this way, there would have been if not a disawoval, at least an ambivalent attitude towards philosophers on Marx's part.SrivatsOn Tue, Oct 30, 2018 at 7:56 PM 'Eric v.d. I can't believe the obvious misrepresentations, misinterpretations, and
downright falsehoods that have appeared on this list recently. Two examples:
1. Rockmore is not a lightweight! He is an eminent scholar of German
idealism. I've had the pleasure to know him personally since the late
1970s and have always been very impressed with his acuity, insights, and
initiatives. It was he who suggested to me that an anthology of new
essays on Schopenhauer would be nice for his 200th birthday in 1988.
2. Of course Marx thought of himself as a philosopher! How could it be
otherwise? Maybe we don't, but he did.
