      Dear group,

we saw a considerable rise of member sduring the last months, as well
as rise of active contributors. Please let me express my heartful
thank to all of you who are contributing to our Hegel.net project,
especialy these mailing lists and help to rise the quality of our
discussions and making these lists a real community.

AS a side effect, the list has seen a considerable amount of messgaes
the last weeks, and it is still rising (more than 10 messages
yesterday, a normal work day, alone).

In this context, some sugestions from your "moderator on duty":

      a)
We have several specialise mailing lists for various Hegel related
topics (see http://hegel.net/res/ml.htm for a complete list including
access to the archives and possibility to subscribe online).

I'd like to sugest that especialy in such times of many mails these
specialiesed lists are used to handle specific topics were it makes
sense, in order to take the burden from the main list.

Also, these specialised lists can serve, can not only help to reduce
traffoic on th emain list but also be used as think tanks and for
discussion among specialised scholars and maintaining a better focus
(and therfor hopefuly also attractive to the specialists), while the
main hegel list has several pruposes (it is the general anouncment
board for hegel related topics, for bokk reviews, it is for
discussion of hegel himself, his time, his philosophy in general, its
architecture etc and all other topics which, for one reason or
another dont fit in the other lists for one reason or another,
however aimed at a scientific level also).

      b)
Especialy topics like "Hegel and Philosopher XYZ" tend to be at least
as much about philosopher XYZ than of Hegel. In our recent
Wittegenstein threads, we had a lot interesting Hegel related stuff
and we also learnt a lot interesting about Wittgenstein, but in the
context of the main list getting many mails and most of these
releated to teh Hegel-Wittgenstein debatte, I may sugets to move
these disuccsions to the Hegel-pHP (post hegelian philosophy) list
      where it belongs to.

      c) Please remember to change the heading of your mails when the
      content of the thread changes.

Posting new Hegel related web sites in the list are welcome, as they
provide a benefit to the readers of teh list (but please only once
and only in the main list, except the site is also specialised on
some specific topics), but the folowing discussion about Wittgenstein
should better not take place for dozens of mails under that subject
(new website...), as it is confusing. So just try to remember to
change teh topic of the mail when apropriate.

Thank you and all the best,
      Kai
