In response to Tue15Jul03 post by Veemen:

      Dear Veemen,

Will you let me know with which book of hegel one must start?

There are two Hegel's texts: 1) The Introduction to Phenomenoloy of Spirit (Trans. by Miller, Oxford University Press, para. 73-89) and 2) the Preface to Philosophy of Right (Trans. T.M. Knox, Encyclopaedia Britannica (Great Books), pp. 1-7).

If you study this texts, paragraph to paragraph, with anotation and personal development, you are doing a good beginning.

Are there any secondary sources which could help one
      who is wrestling with hegel?

Secondary sources are not indispensables, but you can read texts of J.N. Findaly, particularly the foreword to Phenomenology of Spirit (above cited, pp. v-XXX). A introductory text is "An introduction to Hegel's metaphysics", by Ivan Soll with a foreword by Walter Kaufmann, Chicago, The University of Chicago Press, 1969.

This is Minimum. The bibliography on Hegel's philosophy is a Continent. See bellow any classical texts:

Texts of G.R.G. Mure (An Introduction to Hegel. Oxford: At the Clarendon Press, 1940), W.T. Stace (The Philosophy of Hegel: A systematic Exposition. London, 1924. Paperback reprint, new York: Dover Publicatins, 1955), J.N.Findlay (Hegel: A Re-examination. London and New York, 1958. Paperback reprint, New York: Collier).

If we can to reader in original edition, our philosopher can be so easilly understood. If we can to reader in others languages, our philosopher can to be too so easilly understood. There are excellents texts in others languages. Interested?

But, the best is a oriented reading.
