      Dear Friends,

Anselm and Hegel constitutes two great moments of platonical tradition. In his ontological argument Anselm retake the platonical doctrine of Ideas and augustinian dialectical proofs of Gods Existence. Likewise Hegel, his starting point is the faith and the living in Gods presence (see Pros., I), but the development of Anselms proof is more reflexive than speculative. The Anselms proof is founded in the Ratio (pros., proemium), but the anselmian Ratio isnt the same augustinian Ration or the hegelian Ratio.

The anselmian Ratio is the finite Understanding (Pros., I; III) that to want procedure by means of evidence and clarity (Mon., proemium). So, the anselmian ontological proof develope only content of Faith; then it hasnt the infinite pure Being as its true starting point, but the Gods representation in the human Mind. This Gods representation while develope the content of faith and continue in this faith to reveal oneself as a objective representation.

This objective representation imply perfection of God, but only for the philosopher and not still for God itself. The objective representation itself hasnt been investigate in Anselms philosophy; consequently, the perfection of god hanst been too. So, Anselm terminate presupposing this perfection (Pros., IV).

The force of Anselm ontological proof is too its fragility, the formal identity between living Faith and subjective Representation. Anselm could not to develope this identity, because he did not to distinguish between "for us", "for itself" and others properly speculative determinations. In next mail, I can to develope it.

      Regards,

      Emmanuel Selva.
