Most noteworthy in all this is the abstraction of metaphysical
generalities from historical religions in disregard of the actual
institutions and beliefs of real religions. This is the God--the
religion--of the philosophers par excellence. I would imagine that Hegel
would have insight into a mystic like Rumi, but otherwise this entire
argument in the comparison of religions (as well as of civilizations)
strikes me as delusional, a manifestation of what is fundamentally wrong
with idealistic metaphysics. And curiously, this esoteric interpretation
of religions is laughable from the standpoint of ideology critique.
