Dr. Ambika Kameshwar

Dr. Ambika Kameshwar is a dancer, teacher, choreographer, singer, composer, and educationist, who has performed and taught in many countries around the world. She has a Ph.D. in Natyabhinaya (Indian Theater) and is a recipient of the prestigious 'Kalaimamani’ award from the Government of Tamil Nadu, India. She has had intensive training in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and creative dance under Guru Kumari Meenakshi and Dr. Narendra Sharma.
As a musician and core singer of the 'Ramananjali troupe', she has had initial training under her mother Smt. Sulochana Natarajan, and later under Dr. S. Ramanathan and Smt. Rukmini Rajagopalan. She received advanced training in music from the legendary Smt. D. K. Pattammal.
Dr. Kameshwar is the founder and director of RASA - (Ramana Sunritya Aalaya - www.rasaindia.org), a unique charitable organization which focuses on the holistic development of each individual with special emphasis on children with disabilities through music, dance, drama, story-telling and other aspects of theater. This structured methodology, referred to as the Theater for Holistic Development, was developed by Dr. Kameshwar.
