  • It's been my experience, depending on how far apart the trees are, you can't reach high enough to keep yourself off the ground with 1" nylon tree straps (depending on how long they are). Instead of looping it once and pulling it tight in the V slot, I loop it twice around the slot then take a loop over the line and form a knot with it. It holds very well and all I have to do to release it is pull the loop out of the knot. But, like I said, I found I could pull the hammock...
