  • This issue of proper webbing straps can be quite complex and confusing--but it's a good topic for our list and thanks to everyone who has posted. I though I might be able to help the discussion. As some of you know, In my Hammock Camping book I recommend using 1" heavyweight polypropylene webbing with breaking strength of at least 600 lbs for making your own hammock--we use 700 lb...

  • Kim, the NSS is the National Speological Society (cavers) annual convention in Marquette, MI July 12-16. It's held in different places in the US each year, but this is the first time in the UP--should be a great convention. http://www.caves.org Hope you can make it...Ed -----Original Message----- From: Kim Muller [mailto:kim004@^$1] Sent: Sunday, June 27, 2004 12:49 AM To...

  • Hi Dan and thanks for posting. Glad you like the hammock. That car-hammock set up sounds interesting. I will be selling hammocks at the NSS convention in MI in July--will you be there? If you are, be sure and stop by to say Hi....Ed > -----Original Message----- > From: Dan Chase [mailto:chase@^$1] > Sent: Saturday, June 26, 2004 6:34 PM > To: hammockcamping@^$2 > Subject: [Hammock...

  • Glad you liked the book Ralph. Lots of folks also ask about a couples hammock, but like Karen mentioned, we haven't found one yet that passes our comfort test. There may be one out there, but we just haven't found it yet. Likewise, I have no clue how to make one that's suitable for long term sleeping. Our solution is our side-by-side hammocks set up between 3 trees. Would love to...

  • Rick, we did miss ya this time--hope you can make the next campout. Actually several of our group took to the river on Saturday to beat the heat. Karen & I just set our chairs out in the moving water--yes I drank beer while sitting in my chair and tossing rocks for the dog to chase--just like a regular redneck--it was great! Jason and Tammy were a bit more adventuresome and took a...

  • Nice meeting you too Kim. Glad you also brought your new trail friends Tammy and Jason. What were the odds of you meeting two fellow swamp rats with hammocks on your AT hike? Hope you all got home safely Karen would probably prefer we keep the flashing shoes a sceret; anyway, they were a hit! ...Ed -----Original Message----- From: Kim Muller [mailto:kim004@^$1] Sent: Monday, June...
