  • The only ones I've had issues with are the self-inflating pads (thermarest and REI's line of similar pads) as they tend to slide around---I just don't put as much air in them and then they do just fine. I've not had any issues with any other pads in my double bottomed hammock. Tom ----- Original Message ----- From: rmeyer386 To: hammockcamping@^$1 Sent: Tuesday, January 26, 2010 5...

  • I've made a few 1.9 oz. ripstop nylon hammocks; rolled the two long edges, sewed on zipper and no-see-um netting and tied rope and 1" cinch buckle, added 1" wide webbing (with carabiner on one end, with sewed in loop, to make connection to trees a literal 'snap')...made one for every immediate family member, one for my brother, and will be making another for another brother as soon...

  • Do you mean something like the JRB Hammock Hut? http://www.jacksrbetter.com/Hammock%20Hut.htm Tom ----- Original Message ----- From: bd29162dc To: hammockcamping@^$1 Sent: Thursday, November 12, 2009 10:21 AM Subject: [Hammock Camping] Hammock Tent Designs I would like to come up with a tent design which would surround my hammock and peapod in extremely cold/blustery days. • I got the JRB (Jack's R Better) "Hammock Hut" and, though expensive, it's fantastic! Helps keep me warmer in winter by completely preventing the wind from sapping my built up heat plus, the best part, it can be set up for complete privacy, something not possible with any other tarp that I'm aware of. There was one feller who even did a Hammock Hut mod. so he could have a...

  • Thank you for the link! After reading about it briefly on here I scoured the internet for where to purchase it, but I only found references to it on hammockforums.net in the search engine and comments that it didn't come with instructions so the majority of the posts were on how to hang it! I'm going to check it out now! Tom ----- Original Message ----- From: sjedwardson To...

  • Wow...something I haven't heard of yet! Where did you purchase the Snugpak? Lastly, what kind of insulation does it use? Artificial poly stuff or down? • Yup, looked them up...they were 12 foot lengths of nylon cord. Stretched like rubber-man on "the rack". Poly doesn't, for all practical purposes, stretch. Jerry...

  • I use the 1" wide climbing straps (got mine at REI) along with a cinch-buckle for the straps and I sewed a loop at the end of the cord and attached a climbing-rated carabiner for a quick-connect/quick-release set up. I don't get any stretch either. I did when I used the old poly cords that came with my older claytor hammock...those stretched like undersized socks on a giant! Tom...

  • Personally, I love the North American model of the Clark Jungle Hammock...and in camou! However, my reason, like many, is that I simply can't afford to shell out that amount of money, so I've got a commercial close with my Claytor (has a double bottom to use with pads) and I've gotten into sewing up hammocks myself. There's relatively no waste because I use just a rectangle of 1.9...
