  • hmmmm hammock slightly different to the DD but i can see how tying the elastic just to the end of the hammock would do the trick. Cant help but wonder if cord instead of elastic would have been better. Or am i missing something? --- In hammockcamping@^$1, Thomas Vickers wrote: > > http://www.jacksrbetter.com/ >

  • Thanks for the reply, what mods did you make to the underblanket? never heard of the JRB (will have to google it). Cheers Sam --- In hammockcamping@^$1, Johan van Dijk wrote: > > Stretching straps..... • Got the underblanket from DD Hammocks http://www.ddhammocks.com/products.php?cat=8 its really toasty and when I leant it to my daughter for her first hammock outing last weekend she ended up unzipping the sleeping bag as she was too hot! It really does its job well but I would like to mod it slightly (a bit like putting Krabs on the DD to make hanging quicker and easier) so that...

  • I bought the Snugpak underquilt/blanket recently and so far have had some very warm and comfortable experiences in it, however, as yet I cannot find or see a really quick and easy way of putting it up other than tying all the elastic cords from it to the krab of my hammock. Has anyone got any good ideas/instructions, or even better a few piccys that might help me in putting mine up...

  • what about the science side of the argument? I was always lead to believe that a still pocket of air would insulate much better than anything compressed. Considering that is all the thermarest style of mats is would that make it a better choice or do the smaller pockets of air/foam make for a better insulation layer? --- In hammockcamping@^$1, "Thomas Vickers" wrote: > > No, the...

  • Thanks for the replies, all good sound advice. I think I shall take a bivvy bag to put the sleeping bag into so I have an extra layer around me and then I can also pack that full of stuff if I start to get cold. It also sounds like that either the thermarest or the foam are equally good so thanks to those that replied. Sam --- In hammockcamping@^$1, pure mahem wrote: > > If you've...

  • I am going camping next weekend in the uk and have seen differing advice as to using either a thermarest style mat or the original foam style for placing under you for the night. Anyone else have any good experiences/advice? Thanks Sam

  • Thanks for the reply, just a daft question but whats a fire box? also the places that you have stayed in that allow both hammock and fire, could you forward me the details please as I would love to have a bit of a range of places to stay other than one campsite I know in the south downs (Blackberry Wood - which is excellent) Thanks Sam --- In hammockcamping@^$1, "coraclenigel...
