  • I'm in Tiburon, CA and would be up for this as well. - Steve On Sep 9, 2005, at 5:36 AM, Matthew Takeda wrote: > jwj32542@^$1 wrote: > >> I'm in Monterey, CA...anyone nearby want to have a hammock get- >> together? • Actually, this is exactly what I use. Dual-purpose, and if you use the Campmor "extension" poncho, it's a actually larger than the stock tarp. I've used both. Here's a picture of my Hennessy near Bridalveil Horse Camp at Yosemite last winter with the smaller Integral Designs poncho tarp: http://216.247.83.23/bp/bvc/pages/page_12.html - Steve On Jun 24, 2005, at 1:14 PM, Dick...

  • Becki - can't answer your question on the hex fly, but I own two Hennesys, a Cloudburst and a Brawny Tarptent (sounds like we've got a near-identical line-up) A CA hammock get-together would be great - there are a lot of us in the Bay Area in particular. - Steve (SF, moving to Tiburon later this month) On May 2, 2005, at 10:02 AM, LivNLrn3R@^$1 wrote: > Thanks, > Becki in CA...

  • Jamie - I will start you off by pointing out the Winter Backpacking Forum and information at: http://www.backpacking.net/winter.html http://www.backpacking.net/forums/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=winter There's an active group there and lots of good advice—take a look at the recent archives and postings, and post questions, too. It's a friendly group, and there are even a few...

  • Wow - ambitious! I was going to try mine out in a snow slit trench this winter - similar thinking, just without the roof. I figured that it would take care of the majority of the convective heat loss due to wind. If you try this, post pictures - I'd love to see it. • Nice photos - I especially like the shot of the hammock overlooking the lakes and valley, and the "Christmas tree". • Actually, I've had some trouble finding suitable spots in the Sierra Nevada and Henry Coe State Park when hiking with a group where the other folks are using tarps and tents. On my own, with a little more flexibility in where I camp, I generally can hike until I find suitable trees. Back east it's been a lot easier.
