I would recommend acting like you are washing it. At least before
using the stuff. I have found I do not need to get it wet, just
balling it up 3 or 4 times really helps to get the noise out of the
fabric and makes it a lot softer. Each time when you wad it up into
a ball, sit on the ball, jump on the ball, etc. If you need to get
the stuff between the needle on a machine and the arm, then this is a
good idea first... Otherwise, you can do all the sewing of hems and
then bunch it up afterward.
