      KR: I've said it before and I'll say it again, but I find the optimal size for a hammock tarp is 8 feet square. It's just long enough to rig square on, and luxuriously long enough to rig on the diagonal. It's smallish underneath, but big enough to share with the hammock and still feel like I can cook in the rain.
       
      I have a couple of nice custom silnylon tarps made this way, and I use them no matter what kind of hammock I'm in.
