It seems like someone said they were going to make a hammock out of
tyveck in the last 6 weeks or so. Whoever you are, did you try the
experiment? Did it work?
Has anyone else done work with a tyveck hammock?
-Seems like the builder's grade tyveck might be strong enough.
-If one uses the Ed Speer overhand knot at the end, there will be no
needle holes to weaken the fabric.
-Applying a bug net may be more problematic.
-The noise of the tyveck may be reduced a lot because of the weight
of the sleeper keeping the tyveck taut. (Pre-crumpled tyveck is also
-The hammock is not likely to be able to be compressed as much as 1.9
oz ripstop into a stuff sack.
-If you can get the tyveck free from a building site (always ask!)
the price may be right for a trial.
If someone else has already done the experiment, the actual results
would be interesting.
