      If you kick out g77, java, and other language backends, leaving only
      core and c compilation support, you lose about half of the weight of
      the code. Then again, if you drop most of the drivers from the kernel,
      you lose about half of the weight of *that*, too.

      Which leads me to the (meaningless, really) rule of thumb that compilers
      are generally about twice as big as kernels.
