    Dear friends,

this weekend 26-27 May 2012, an inaugural event called the Festival of Biodiversity will be held at the Singapore Botanic Gardens' Botany Centre (Tanglin Gate), see http://festivalofbiodiversitysingapore.wordpress.com/

The festival is organised by NParks and the natural history community who have come together formally for the first time as the Biodiversity Roundtable of Singapore.  And we are working together on this Festival of Biodiversity which is part of worldwide celebrations of the United Nations International Day of Biodiversity.

The Festival is the biggest celebration of Singapore’s biodiversity in the calendar with a wonderful array of activities including 14 interactive booths, arts and craft workshops, story-telling sessions, a few symposia, touch pools, a new marine biodiversity exhibition which will tour Singapore, film screenings from footage taken of nature in  Singapore, a photography exhibition, guided tours, launch of a new book and new iPhone apps for nature as well as the sale of a diversity of biodiversity publications.

Volunteers of the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research, the Raffles Museum Toddycats will be man four booths staffed by 15-20 volunteers taking shifts throughout the day to interact with the public over the largest collection of museum specimens we have brought out to a public venue. With us on the second floor of the Botany Centre will include groups like ACRES, Cicada Tree Eco Place and Wildlife Reserves Singapore.  At various locations in the Botany Centre will be passionate volunteers, researchers, managers, staff of various agencies and institutions.

Join us for an energetic and engaging day!

    Cheerio!
