Subject: Re: [h_t_rex] Sat Aug 29 HoChiMinh Run - A Very Short Report

Here is my report for this morning's very short (at least for me) run at HCM:

Just before Tim and I (we were the only H-T-Rexers that showed up today) approached the start of the Yellow Trail past the Rugby Field, we came across an armadillo. We stopped to look at it and as we started to run again, I immediately tripped and fell on my knee. It was not a very dramatic fall, so to my surprise, when I looked at my knee it had a big whole (about 1 1/2 in. deep and 2 in. wide) with little bleeding and no pain.  I must have scrapped my knee with a sharp rock for that to have happened, but it was too dark to tell. At that point I decided to cut my run short to go to the hospital, where a doctor sewed the incision with 7 stitches and gave me a knee immobilizer that I have to wear for the next two weeks.

I guess you can never be too careful, but it's one of the many risks, especially during a night/early morning trail run, that can only make me stronger and I will try not to blame it on the Texan armadillos...

I hope the H-T-Rexers that are running tonight at Capt'n Karl have a safe and strong race.

      Regards,
      Jorge
