Group Description

Guitartown is an online and virtual community centered around the alternative country music scene of the Triangle region (Raleigh - Durham - Chapel Hill) of North Carolina, though its membership is worldwide and discussion isn't limited to just one region or topic. Discussions include previews and reviews of upcoming recordings and general information about all kinds of music but has been known to veer off into discussions about books, movies, sports, barbecue, etc. Guitartown was created as an email discussion group by Alison Williams in the spring of 1999 as a means of bringing fans of the demon twang from the Triangle area together.
Some artists discussed are Steve Earle, Marah, Son Volt, Ryan Adams, Wilco, Tonk, Sarah Shook, 6 String Drag, Maldora, the Gourds, Whiskeytown, the Backsliders, Frog Holler, the Old 97's, Chatham County Line, John Howie, Jr. and the Rosewood Bluff, Tres Chicas, Slobberbone, Drive-By Truckers, Patty Hurst Shifter, etc. Members of Guitartown are encouraged to post photos, videos and reviews of shows. From its humble beginnings on OneList and Yahoo Groups, Guitartown has since expanded to include Facebook and Twitter. We occasionally run off-topic but for the most part we stick to music and welcome all opinions - so jump in!
