RE: [GTh] Suggestions?
I doubt I can be of much help here, but I do have a question. I am
completely unfamiliar with Paulist Press's "What are They Saying About"
series so perhaps, for starters, you could identify who "they" are? Are
we talking about scholars? Or are we talking about New Agers, Christian
Apologists or the Curious Public?
and Judy responds:
I haven’t read widely in this series, but the “they” in “What are they saying about the Parables” is definitely scholars. They are aimed at an intelligent non-specialist who is interested in finding out what scholars are saying, but are useful for scholars. I found the Parables book a very good introduction to the breadth of scholarship so that I could work out who the major players are, what positions they take and what I might need to delve more deeply into.
I will have a look over the weekend and see what I found/find useful. I did a couple of lectures on Gos Thomas for an overview of early Christianity course earlier in the year and the feedback I got was that it was very accessible, so the bibliography is probably useful. J
