        Or - putting it a slightly different way - why would one think that the
        souls of the dead were not *already* at rest? Presumably, because they were
        not in their *place* of final rest. So where were they? Perhaps roaming
        the earth (non-Jewish idea), or perhaps in Sheol (Jewish idea). In either
        case, it seems that they could not yet enter into heaven (their final
        resting place) until the redeemer had come to open the gates of heaven - a
        Jewish idea frequently overlooked.
