Mayday in the heart of the Great Wen

Belated Beltane Greetings!
Yesterday was Mayday, when local folk are about in the City of London, bringing a spot of earthy culture to the toiling drones of the square mile. The world renowned Deptford Jack in the Green toured the City and Bankside, and the pub crawl included a few sober cyclists, who either strolled with their bikes, or informally helped marshal the procession by riding slowly in the road and blocking traffic at crossings and junctions.
A naff mobile phone picture of the procession may be viewed here...
On bank holiday Monday next, the Deptford Jack will be in Hastings. But you won't, for you'll be riding with me around the Hoo and Rochester. Or watching a bunch of grown men kick a latex bladder around a muddy field.
