Greenwich Cyclists and others have objected to the construction of brick walls which block a right of way and cycle route between Old Dover and Charlton Roads. There’s a public meeting of Greenwich Council’s planning board next Tuesday (Woolwich Town Hall, starts 6.30 pm but this is Agenda item 9)  which will be asked to rule either that (1) the right of way be extinguished, possibly leading to a referral to the Secretary of State; (2) no right of way existed for the previous LCN cycle route and pedestrian access through what is now Dornberg Close, Bellfield Close and the Hexagon estate, and no further action (to remove the walls) is required. Officers recommend (2) on the grounds of cost saying it would be cheaper unless successfully challenged in a magistrates’ court.
