RE: [lewishamcyclists] FW: Olympics Legacy Cycle Route and proposed Toucan Crossing on Norman Road
Ian, I agree and a sturdy pelican on Norman Road has got to be good news; the why’s and wherefore’s of public funding/Greenwich and Lewisham Councils, will take more than an hour in The Dog & Bell to unfathom.
The Creek Bridge was postponed at Greenwich West Planning tonight; the elected members voted unanimously to defer items 6 and 7 pending a site visit. Trebles all round!

This is fine, but why? It was not developed with any community group, was it?
My main comment is that I trust that it scotches any thought of a fast vehicle gyratory route via Norman Road .
Sorry we missed the crap.

Subject: Olympics Legacy Cycle Route and proposed Toucan Crossing on Norman Road
I attach for your information a plan showing the proposed “Greenwich Station – Deptford Cycle Route ” which obtained Olympics Legacy funding in 2009.
The scheme has been developed in liaison with L B Lewisham and has to be implemented by March 2014. The works in Greenwich substantially comprise a new toucan crossing on Norman Road (details attached) to link the access road to the new development, “The Movement” with the path over Ha’penny Hatch Bridge. This will provide safe cycle/pedestrian linkage between the Station and all points west of Deptford Creek, avoiding the major road network.
I would be grateful to receive any observations you might have on these plans. Please contact me if you have any queries.
