The replacement will include a statue of Dr Salter's wife, Ada, who was also a local hero. The complete group (Dr Salter, Ada, their daughter Joyce, and their cat) will be displayed near the Angel pub by the Thames in Rotherhithe, protected by state-of-the-art security.RegardsColin----- Original Message -----From: Amanda SquiresSent: Tuesday, March 12, 2013 7:39 PMSubject: Dr Salter appeal goes live !
Dear Salter Statues original supporters,
In the last fortnight a further £1,500 has come in, bringing our total to over £16,000. You can follow our progress on the website and read the many lovely, supportive comments. www.salterstatues.co.uk
We have now produced an appeal letter which can be emailed to potential supporters or printed out for meetings and community events. See attachment. Please forward this appeal letter to all friends and contacts! And ask them to forward it too!
The internet is proving a wonderful way of spreading news of the campaign. Two interesting people who happen to have mentioned the Dr Salter statue on their websites are now adding information about the fund-raising appeal:
Dr Hilda Kean, a public and cultural historian, who writes about animal statues in London. See http://hildakean.com
Robert Lordan, a black cab driver who writes about his London. See http://blackcablondon.wordpress.com
Whenever you mention the appeal do remind people about Gift Aid and the match-funding. If someone donates £50, Gift Aid makes it £60, and the Council makes it £120. Please encourage everyone to donate!
With best wishes,
AmandaDr Amanda Squires OBE, FCSP, PhD, MSc
