      MAST- NEPAL Workshop

      The MAST-NEPAL project conducted its first training workshop on MARKET
      CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES under The Marketing of Sustainable
      Tourism Products of Nepal at Hotel Malla in Kathmandu on 4th and 5th
      September 2007, after successful completion of two workshops on
      Sustainable Tourism Product Development. Altogether thirty-two
      participants from twenty-five companies and the project partners from
      UNEP, SNV and NTB participated in the workshop.

      On the first day of the workshop, Mrs. Nandini Lahe Thapa, Director of
      Tourism Marketing and Promotion, NTB delivered opening remarks. Mr.
      Paul Stevens, Senior Tourism Advisor of SNV highlighted the support to
      companies from the project. Ms. Garrette Clark, the Project
      Manager-UNEP presented the future course of action of the project. Ms.
      Monica Oliveros, Tourism Advisor-SNV and Gyaneshwar Mahato, Project
      coordinator presented the updates on product improvement made by
      companies so far. Mr. Stefanos Fotiou, Tourism Coordinator-UNEP gave
      overview of Sustainable Tourism Marketing in relation to the issues of
      last workshop. Mr. Benjamin Carey, Managing Director of the Dunira
      Strategy and visiting fellow of the International center for
      Responsible Tourism took over as the trainer of the workshop. In two
      days, he covered the marketing issues on Marketing Sustainable Tourism
      Products, Marketing strategy, Marketing Mix and Distribution Channels.
      He provided insight on companies existing web look and suggested
      various methods how to make it more marketable.

      The workshop concluded on 5th September. Mrs. Wei Zhao, Environment
      Affairs Officer-UNEP wrapped up the two-day workshop and Mr. Lila
      Bahadur Bania, Manager STDU- NTB delivered vote of thanks to all the
      participants and the project partners.
