Group Description

This is a chance for all those who have experienced the joys of rail travel in Europe, and especially Switzerland to exchange views, photos etc.. and continue to enjoy their holidays(vacations).
We had two main journeys, apart from travelling to & from Switzerland. Eurostar/Thalys/IntercitySwiss to Chur via Koln and return from Brig via Paris using the Intercity to Geneva then the SCNF TVR to Dijon and Paris. Then the final section to Waterloo on the Eurostar. Our first package holiday ever! The link from Chur to Brig on the amazing Glacier Express. We also went up to Zermatt. Across to Thun and Interlaken on our day off! Also a day trip to Lindau, thence St.Gallen and return to Chur.I've started writing a day by day account of my 2007 trip with Travelpod.
In 2008 we went to the Bernese Oberland and especially the Furka Dampfbahn. The whole trip went like clockwork! Well, almost! On our last day we went up to the Murrenbahn and it left three minutes early! There was another along ten minutes later, and it WAS Sunday!!! As well as the railways we found the post-buses very exciting. The trip up to Grosse Schiedegg from Grindelwald is well worth the time. Then down the other side to Meirengen is a wonderful route, full of suprises. We've been well and truly bitten by the Swiss Travel Bug!!! This time we flew via Easyjet from Bristol to Geneva and then by train via Bern to Interlaken where the Rep had transport arranged for the last little bit of the journey. This was our first Easyjet flight. For us westcountry travellers it saved having to stay overnight in London and catching a very early train out of St Pancras now that Waterloo is denighed us! It also saved a great deal of expense!
